Sunday Swing & Crash Course

Stumptown Dance is proud to host Sunday Swing; Oregon’s largest, weekly swing dance that is well reputed in Portland and beyond.
Many people find great enjoyment at this event on a regular or occasional basis and we think you will too.

Sunday Swing is first and foremost a social dance! Our lesson and music are tailored to help aspiring and proficient dancers find the joy and exhilaration of
a room full of happy people, all moving to the same (or close to the same) beat with the influence of each person’s unique style.
Our average attendance before lockdowns was 150. Now, we’re rebuilding organically with about 85 fun loving individuals of all ages, varying from no prior experience to professionals and you’re invited.

Crash Course
Many people come to Sunday Swing with no prior experience and we love that! This lesson is a perfect way to dip your toe into the world of Swing dancing without a partner, any commitments or experience. Just be sure to arrive on time so you don’t miss anything! …and don’t worry- we work with a lot of “left feet” and yours are no worse than what we’ve seen before! Note- Taking the Crash Course qualifies you to take Beginners Getting Serious next time.

-WE DANCE EVERY SUNDAY!!! – Unless there’s freezing rain or Christmas Eve/Day or New Years Eve/Day fall on a Sunday. We are open on all other holidays.

Noteworthy!
Dress Up Night is the last Sunday of every month & Theme nights are extra fun! Come in jeans if that’s your thing or feel free to go all out.

Also, we have a super fun tradition of ending promptly at 10:30 so we can hustle over to eat together at The Matador (21+ Spanish restaurant that’s walking distance down Burnside & has delicious, inexpensive happy hour food).
